These classes provide the fundamentals of portraiture for any level artist. Learn an easy-to-repeat process for that exciting and rewarding exploration of drawing people. Learn the basics, so you can then draw yourself, or your "Auntie Em" or a sweetheart from a photo.
Sessions 1 & 2 focus on image selection, model posing, lighting, and approach fundamentals. Sessions 2 and 3 each offer our clothed model for three, 20 minute poses. Learn to focus on the basics; seeing the person, finding their spirit, and translating that spirit onto paper or canvas.
All skill levels are welcome. Pencil, colored pens or markers, or a very limited palette of watercolor work best. We emphasize a repeatable process; how to approach, compose and finish a portrait. Sessions include lecture, demonstrations, homework, personal in-class constructive critique and reference handouts. Minimal materials are required.
