An Artist’s Renaissance Retreat, Tuscany, Italy

Draw, paint, photograph, and explore the Casentino Valley in Tuscany!

This is our 15th ARTroads Academy workshop in this incredible locale, an hour from Florence.  Improve your talents, use the amazing locale for inspiration and use the time to focus on your art! And live like an Italian!

Your workshop includes:

  • Accommodations; 7 nights, in 2 or 3 bedroom, "agriturisimo apartamente"* (restored, stone farmhouses, with modern kitchens & baths), in the luscious Casentino Valley, just 75 minutes east of Florence

  • Classes; 5 mornings, on-site, instructors, Pamela Rhodes and Chris Holt, providing daily guidance on approach, technique and results; drawing and watercolor classes, (5)

  • "Approaching Your Own Art"; Chris Holt

  • "Watercolor, Tuscany and Technique"; Pamela Rhodes

  • En Plein Air , optional, afternoon outings, strengthening technique, painting and more painting!

  • Transportation; pick up and drop off transfers to and from the local Poppi bus or rail stations, to and from all ARTroads off-site events (tuition does not include airfare)

  • Benvenuti (welcome) reception & Tuscan buffet dinner, with local wines

  • Continental breakfasts, with local fare (7)

  • Morning Meditation & Yoga (optional)

  • Mercato outing ~ morning market shopping

  • Bistro lunch, all'aperto (outdoors) next to the Castello Guidi

  • "Fabbrica di ceramica" ~ ceramics factory tour ~ Paint your own, "made, by you, in Italy" ceramic plate, as a souvenir, fired by the factory

  • Dinner, including wine, at our favorite, local, trattoria

  • "Vino Toscano" wine tasting with "Povere Cucina" cooking demo followed by dinner, vino included

  • "All'aperto" lunch; onsite, with brick-oven specialties

  • Aperitivo Reception, on site Art Show and Awards

  • Arrivederci Ristorante Dinner, celebrate our efforts! Tuscan vino included

    * Agriturisimo properties are renovated buildings, farms and vineyards that offer tourist services, ranging from rustic to luxury accommodations, thus preserving historic buildings and traditional agricultural methods.

    Tuition:

  • New students; $3,200. pp, dbl.

  • ARTroads alum and select arts organization members; $2,880. pp. dbl.

  • Non-artist guests; $2,200. pp. dbl.

    Single room supplement; $550.

You have the talent! All we need to do is connect you with the Tuscan countryside, the food, wine, and camaraderie. Of course, there will be ample time for you to focus on honing your skills.

Artists chosen for residency, will receive a $1,000. (USD) credit toward the non-discounted accommodations they choose.
