“The Palace of Fine Arts”

Considered the most beautiful structure at the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exhibition, architect Maybeck’s masterpiece was inspired by Roman and Greek ruins reflecting “the mortality of grandeur and the vanity of human wishes”.  One of the few structures surviving the demolition of the Exposition, it was lovingly rebuilt in 1965, and a renovation of the lagoon, walkways, and seismic retrofit, were completed in 2009.  The Palace remains a popular venue for walks and wedding photos.
